The Wan Smol Bag (WSB) Shefa Basketball League (SBL) has recently conducted a two-day referee clinic at the Epauto Multipurpose Court.
Fifteen participants attended the referee clinic and with the majority of youth keen to take on the new roles as well as old referees attending as a refresher course. It was coordinated by SBL referee, Peter Izono, a level two referee.
With basketball gaining back momentum from the men’s and women’s teams in the 2023 opening knockout, the WSB SBL believes it is essential to have more officials come in and assist in conducting games, with new teams registering for the championship as well.
SBL commented that it is a step up for the league with a lot of attendees coming forward to assist championship games as well.
“This is the first referee clinic for this year and hopefully there would be more coming.Participants will assist current officials throughout the championship games. This will boost their confidence in officiating games.”
WSB SBL acknowledges WSB for its financial assistance to fund the referee clinic. The WSB SBL will commence soon.
