The Vanuatu Football Rugby Union (VFRU) Rugby 10’s competition saw USP crowned as the VRFU 10’s champion after beating Police by 5 nil yesterday at the Independence Park.

USP grabbed VT35,000 plus a gift voucher. Police came second and was awarded VT20,000 with Tanvasako, grabbing third place with VT10,000.

Both teams displayed a wonderful game as they fought hard to gain a try throughout the full game. USP came in tough in the first half to earn itself a try after the numerous attempt it made on the Police defense wall.

Police created few opportunities to earn a try however USP kept steady to overcome the Police attacking strategies.

USP did not make a mistake as it continued to lift its heads up until the final whistle.

The women’s division grand final match between the Island Warriors and Ovins saw Ivins winning the game by 15 nil.

After a month of exclusive competitions, the tournament has finally ended. VRFU’s President, Mr Timothy Tumukon acknowledged all participating teams for displaying a fair game since day one competitions.

Mr Tumukon confirmed that next week, the VRFU 10’s Independence Knockout tournament will also kick off.
