PENAMA defeated Black Diamond 1-0 in Division One of the Port Vila Football Association match last Saturday.

The goal was scored through an own goal following Black Diamond defender Clinton William carelessness in the 6th minute where he strike the goal to his own net giving the boys in dark purple the early lead.

Black Diamond showed they were determined and displayed great ball control and possession as they dominated the game and created a few opportunities to equalize however their strikers Kieth Andrew and Henry Willie missed a few golden opportunities.

In the second half Black Diamond once again showed dominance, however they just could not find the back of the net giving the victory to PENAMA.

Penama coach Collin Brown said he is glad with the result as they achieved what they aimed for. He says despite the win he still feels things did not really go according to the way they had planned during training but a 1-0 win still counts as three points which gives them 8 points in total on the ladder.

Coach Brown explains that the name of the team came about from a decision by the Penama Football Association for a Penama team to be established in Port Vila. He further explained Siaraga was supposed to change its name to Penama however things did not work out, he thanked the AS Ambassadors executive for allowing their name to be changed to Penama.

Black Diamond coach, Ben Hungai says, he is happy his boys dominated the ball possession by about 80% throughout the whole game, however he states the problem is the finishing by the strikers to score which they could not do.

In the other Division 1 games results; United Malampa beat Naka by 5-0 while Pango Green Bird were held to a 1-1 draw by Seveners United during the week.
