Sports finalists

Central School were crowned champions of the girls category C competition in the SEPSSA Games. Ecole Centreville and Fresh Wota Bilingual School came in second and third respectively.

Seaside Community Presbyterian School took the championship in the boys competition ahead of Fresh Wota Bilingual School and Eton School.

The South Efate Primary School Sports Association [SEPSSA] games closed last Friday

Here are some of the results from the other sports finals.

Ball throw

A tennis ball was used as the kids can not lift the heavy short put balls.

John from Seaside Presbyterian Community School was crowned champion in category B boys [year 3-4], his runner up was Joseph from Fokona Seventh Day Adventist School while Peter from the Teouma Primary School Sports Association [TEPSSA] selection of students came third.

In the girls competition of the same category, Chloe from Fresh Wota Bilingual School came out on top, followed by Flavia from Ifira Bilingual School and Eva from Ecole d’Esnar in third.

Volleyball

In the girls category A, Ecole Catholique du Saint Joseph were crowned champions while Kawenu and Erakor Bilingual came second and third respectively.

Category A boys champions are Ecole Suango followed by TEPSSA selection and Kawenu.

Wile the category B mixed competition went to Mele Maat School with Fokona SDA school taking runners up and Ecole Catholique du Saint Joseph coming third.

Basketball

Category A boys: 1st Mele Maat, 2nd Erakor Bilingual, 3rd Ecole d’Esnar. While the girls competition saw Ecole Suango take the title followed by Ecole d’Esnar and Mele Maat School.

Netball

Only 4 schools took part in the category A [year 5,6] netball competition and Central School came out on top followed by Ecole Catholique du Sainte Jeanne d’Arc and Fresh Wota Bilingual School team 1 and 2.

Football

Mele Maat were crowned champions of the boys category A followed by the TEPSSA selection and Ifira Bilingual school.

Port Ball

The category B [year 3,4] kids did not play netball of basketball as they played port ball which is a mixture of the 2 sports which takes in 5 players on a team, played on grass, shooting the ball into a bucket.

A Vila North School teacher, who organized this game, Rebeca Semenu, said that the game suites the little kids as the rules are not too strict like basketball.

She said that this game has featured in the past and has gained a lot of interest from the kids. Mrs. Semenu added that this sport will feature in all SEPSSA games to come.
