Auckland City is the first team to book their berth in the semi-final after beating Suva FC 3-1 at Luganville Stadium yesterday.
In a game described by all as a “physical one” the powerhouse of football Auckland City showcased another level of football in ‘smol taon’.
Opening the score for that afternoon in the 14 minutes of the game was Liam Gillion who plays from the right wing of Auckland City. Gillion who can only be described as sensational scores from the right side of the goal in the first half of the game. With a strong physical contest among the two powerhouses of Oceania football the second goal comes in the 33 minutes by Gerrard Garcia.
Into the dying minutes of the first half, the sensational native from Auckland, Gillion comes in for a brace to put his home team, 3-0 in front.
In the second half of the game, Suva FC, later equalised by Alex Saniel, after the 70 minutes of the game to change the score board to 3-1. Despite the strong physical comeback by the Fijian side they could not produce the results they have been hoping for.
In the first match Solomon Warriors beat Lupe Ole Soago 3-1. The final pool matches will be on Saturday seeing Auckland City up against Lupe Ole Soago and Solomon Warrior playing Suva FC.
