Vanuatu’s judoka, Mr Hugo Cumbo lost its fight yesterday against Boltaboev Sharofiddin from Uzbekistan at the 2020Tokyo Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
According to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Mr Boltaboev is ranked #7 globally.
Both judokas put on a massive and tough competition until the end of the fight. Mr Cumbo displayed a good performance against Boltaboev but was not enough after Boltaboev won through an ippon (point scored in judo).
The elimination round was tough with both participants performing really good sportsmanship. Vanuatu’s Cumbo was tough and did his best however Boltaboev came through winning the match.
With Cumbo and Yoshua Shing out of the game competitions, VASANOC confirmed that Vanuatu’s flag bearer, Rio Rii will finish his Olympic campaign on Friday, this week.
