The Efate Secondary School Sports Association (ESSSA)and South Efate Primary School Sports Association (SEPSSA) games were a success with a lot of sporting talent displayed from primary and secondary school students.
Central School sports teacher, Alick Rongo, believes having different sport competitions run throughout the year instead of just ESSSA and SEPSSA is great for the students as it would allow them to build themselves up and grow good sportsmanship to represent Vanuatu in future.
As a teacher Rong says, sport also helps build up kids mentaly and he sees evidence of that in the classroom as he says it really shapes them to take the lead in what they do.
Rongo says the games were planned in the last minute, however he acknowledges the national sporting federations for their input into the organization.
The sports teacher says the games always provide a good opportunity for all schools and students to come together to build good relationships and sportsmanship between each other.
He says these games also breed the next generation of stars,he gives an example of some of his students who have already represented Vanuatu at Junior level in cricket.
