Vt1.2 million for beach volleyball

Prime Minister Charlot Salwai and Patron of beach volleyball, has handed over a cheque for Vt1.2 million to the President of Vanuatu Beach Volleyball, Debbie Masauvakalo yesterday, to recruit an Australian trainer, to prepare the players for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games.

He said he is confident Vanuatu is capable of winning its first medals ever at the Games.

Masauvakalo thanked the Prime Minister for his support in the last Pacific Mini Games which prompted Vanuatu to win gold.

She joined the Prime Minister to speak with confidence for Vanuatu to return home with medals.

She also invited the Prime Minister to attend their first training on April 1.

Australian trainer Shanan Zunker is arriving in the country on March 13 to train the local players.

The Commonwealth Games will start on April 4 and end on April 15.
