Malapoa College this week conducted a tracks and field event for its students in its Inter House Sports programs at the Korman Stadium.
The yearly program takes place during the term one two weeks break however the MC Sports Committee this year had rescheduled the event to July.
MC Sports Committee Chairman, Robert George said that the purpose of the event is to select students to participate in the upcoming Efate Secondary Sport Association (ESSA) competitions to kick of Monday next week with the official opening this Friday.
“We are scouting students to represent the school team in this year’s ESSA games. The ESSA games are coming up and we need to ensure a fair selection for the school team.
“The track and field events include discus, javelin, shot put, triple jump, long jump and track events of 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m,1500m and 3000m challenge.
Mr George stated that this week is the Tracks and field event, with last week the ball competitions. He mentioned that the ball events include soccer, basketball, futsal, volleyball and netball.
The Chairman stated that he was really happy with the outcome and will announce and final selection for the team later this week.
With the National School Sport competitions to take place in Lakotoro, Malekula, Malapoa College alongside other Secondary schools in Port Vila are preparing themselves towards the ESSA game competitions where students will get selected to represent Port Vila in the National event.
