During the closing ceremony of the Efate Secondary School Sports Association [ESSSA] and South Efate Primary School Sports Association [SEPSSA] games last Friday, the Director of Education Services Samuel Katipa says Vanuatu is in need of a sports academy.
He says we already have a football academy, however he believes there needs to be one to cater for the other sports which were also included in the games.
Mr Katipa says the government through the Ministries of Youth and sport and education need to start consultations now towards setting up of this sports academy.
Katipa says big dreams require a lot of finance, planning and human resources, however after 41 years of independence he believes it is about time to work towards achieving that dream.
Katipa congratulated all winners and encouraged them to work hard towards the national games on Malekula in August.
He encouraged the organizers to prepare a good selection for Port Vila and Shefa for these games and he also encouraged students to train, pray and study hard as these 3 things make up a human being.
He also told students to control their behavior as behavior alone can ruin sporting performances.
Katipa thanked God for the games especially for the reason there was no serious injuries. He also acknowledged teachers, organizers and sponsors for their input towards the games.
