It is good to learn the USP Council has taken the decision to reinstate Professor Pal Ahluwalia as USP VC.
The university’s governing authority has done the right thing by Professor Ahluwalia who was arbitrarily removed from his position and abruptly deported from Fiji by the Fijian State authorities.
He was denied natural justice and a fair hearing. It has also done the right thing by the university community comprising the 12 island nations to whom the university belongs.
The university community has stood steadfast in demanding the reinstatement of Professor Ahluwalia from day one of his removal and deportation saying they did not find his leadership lacking in any way as alleged by his detractors in the Fijian government and their apparatchiks.
The USP Council decision upholds the integrity, independence and reputation of the region’s premier university.
