Dear Editor,

For clarification, the name “Takuare” is not a custom chiefly Title that can be bestowed on any chief. Hence, it is wrong in custom for an individual person to make such a claim. “Takuare” is a custom name given to a group of chiefs who are bestowed with the chiefly title that signifies they are the great warriors of the great chiefs.

Their role is to protect and defend the great chiefs, their people and properties, including sea and land.

Thank you.

Chief Matisa Willie Alick Pakoatau (Takueare)
