Vanuatu’s Minister of Finance and Economic Management, John Salong, has recently expressed his gratitude to the previous governments for their effective economic stimulus packages that have helped to revive the country’s economy during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking during the First Extraordinary session in Parliament, the minister lauded the successful implementation of the first two phases of the stimulus packages, which ran from 2020 to 2022.
Minister Salong went on to announce the third phase of the economic stimulus package, which is set to continue in 2023 with a budget of VT 1,304.0 billion.
The third phase of the stimulus package will include VT300 million in wage subsidies, VT574 million for small and medium enterprises, and VT430 million for other subsidies.
The government’s commitment to implementing these measures will be welcomed by many who are expecting to receive their share of the fund.
The third phase of the stimulus package is a clear indication of the government’s dedication to providing support to those who need it most, and it is hoped that it will result in a stronger, more resilient Vanuatu.
