A Urology Team of specialist doctors will be visiting and holding a Urology clinic at Vila Central Hospital on Monday, July 24. The Urology team is made up of surgeons: Dr Richard Grills, Dr Trevor Cullwick and Dr Samuel Kemuel.
It is understood a list of patients registered for the doctors to see is already in place. A message from the VCH in English, French and Bislama had been circulating over the last two weeks or so informing the people of the visit by the specialists and getting potential clients to register at the hospital to access the free service.
“All patients with suspected or diagnosed kidney, bladder or prostate disease, especially those using long term urinary catheters (kauju mo bag blo pispis) should be referred to Port Vila before 23rd July in order to attend the Urology clinic on 24th July 2017,” the message reads.
The Minister of Health, Jerome Ludvaune, is encouraging those people with such ailments to make every effort to register with the hospital before July 23 so they can be referred to attend the clinic.
“This is a great opportunity for us in Vanuatu as the service costs a lot of money and every time we pay a lot of money to get patients to receive such service overseas,” he says.
“Now that this service is coming to the Vila Central Hospital, people should make every effort to see the specialist doctors.”
The Minister says kidney, bladder or prostate disease is a disease that affects men over 50 years of age and it is one of the biggest killers of men in Vanuatu.
