The temporary domestic wharf arrangement to establish a pontoon for the interisland vessels is a project funded wholly by the Vanuatu Government with no involvement from the New Zealand Government as previously carried.
Upon decommissioning of the present Star Wharf facility, the entire area of the present Star Wharf where inter island vessels currently load and unload, will be taken up by the construction of the new Port Vila Lapetasi International Multi-Purpose Wharf Development Project.
This project will commence construction in 2015 and complete in 2017, and is financed through a loan from the Japanese Government.
