Sarearoto is again President of Green’s Port Vila Region

Cr. Willie Saatearoto re-elected Green Confederation Party Port Vila Region President

Green Confederation’s Port Vila Municipal Councilor, Willie Saatearoto, has been re-elected the political party’s Port Vila Region President.

His re-election was made last week, two years after he lost the position in 2013 when he was suspended by the party for supporting Saby Natonga of the Community Association in opposition to Green because the party had fielded late Patrick Crowby in the 2012 general election.

Saatearoto’s action was a protest against the party because he believed that as President of the Port Vila Region of Green, he was the rightful first choice for the Port Vila seats.

With the suspension of Willie Saateatoro, a former Lord Mayor of Port Vila, another Green Confederation Councillor for Port Vila, Seule Kalo, was elected President.

The following year, in 2014, Saatearoto was accepted back into the party fold and later that same year elected Vice President of Port Vila Region.

With the President of the Party, Moana Carcasses, in jail and with the dissolution of Parliament on November 25, 2015, the Party met last week and decided to re-elect Cr. Saatearoto to the position he had held since 2005 until he lost it in 2013.

Saatearoto’s re-election came following the party’s decision to field the President of Port Vila Regional of Green Confederation, Seule Kalo, to contest one of the seats in the Vanuatu capitol that was held by the President of the Party.

“Green Confederation has six councilors in the Port Vila municipal council and they and their militants have all pledged their full support behind the President of the region to win one of the six seats,” he added.

Cr. Seule Kalo is a ni-Vanuatu businessman, who owns Parts Plus automotive spare parts shop, Flaming Bull restaurant, is Team Manager of Amicale Football Cub, and was a former Youth President at Matakeru Presbyterian Church.

During that time he worked with youths of Vila North Session that covered youths of Pakaroa, Matakeru, Selime, Freshwin, Klivtern, Airport, Busubay, Man Ples, Matantopua Presbyterian church congregations.

Green Confederation Party’s structure is made up of the people, militants, sub-committees, councilors, regions, and the national executive.

In Port Vila’s case, the party is represented in the national executive, has six councilors, five sub-committees, about 600 militants, and 1,003 voters who voted GC President Moana Carcasses, with 1200 votes to win the 4th seat in the 2012 general election.
