The ever growing Vanuatu Tourism Sector, is the target for the Southern China’s Province, Quangdong, in the city of Quanzhou.
After a series of meeting on Sunday night with the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, Luo Jun, appealed to the Pacific Islands to open up their tourism doors to his province.
“With over 100 million population in Quangdong, the tourism possibilities for the islands is endless,” Jun said.
Jun made the statement after he was asked what Quangdong expects from the Pacific Islands in return for them providing medical, economic, cultural and health services to the Pacific Islands.
“If the Pacific Islands open their doors, Quangdong would like to facilitate in upgrading hotels, resorts and backpackers all over Vanuatu, starting with the facilities up to the administration.
“We would like to invest in the tourism infrastructures, in return for the hotels to accommodate our tourist in the near future, judging population wise, the islands would need to work on the number of their rooms,” Jun said.
Jun said each year, Guangdong is sending over 8 million tourists overseas, and each year Quangdong is seeking new tourist destinations for its population. “And since we have similar tropical weather in Quandong and the Pacific Islands, it would be great for the islands to open their doors for our people to come and visit your beautiful islands, where I myself have been.”
For Vanuatu, an opportunity presents itself next year, when there will be direct flights from Hong Kong, which is about 3 hours drive from Quangdong and a few hours flight from Quangdong to Fiji.
Daily Post has been told that if Vanuatu can persuade the Quangdong authorities and Fiji, to divert some flights from Fiji to Vanuatu, then we can tap on this new vein, in the gold mine, that is waiting to be exploited.
