In any rural setting of Vanuatu, members of the family work together to survive and enhance lives. It is a normal sight to see a mother carrying a basket filled with garden crops like kumala and the father with a bundle of banana on his shoulder and of course, kava roots. The children (pictured) helped with gardening and returned home with their share of taro, banana, wild yam and coconut. These children eat from the same kitchen. This is everyday life in the village.
