Passport booklets back in stock

Officers of the Vanuatu Immigration and Passport Services are working around to the clock, to print passport booklets for those that have applied.

Director of Immigration, Jeffery Markson confirmed the booklets arrived last week, and his officers commenced with the printings over the weekend.

“There are over 2, 000 applications, and our target is to print all the passport booklets by the end of this week,” the director said.

Efforts to ensure the target is met include working overtime, and resourcing staff from other sections to assist with passport booklet printings.

The booklets have been depleted since August this year. Mr. Markson said the passport demand is high in Vanuatu, but the COVID-19 issue has made it quite difficult for a quicker transportation of the Passport booklets from Hungary, where they are being printed, to Vanuatu.
