The Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG) based in Lagos, West Africa has donated $US20,000 (approximately Vt2,192,005Vt) to the Head of State, the President of the Republic of Vanuatu, Baldwin Lonsdale, to help rebuild the Office of the Head of State that was badly damage by cyclone Pam in March this year.
Deffnie Thompson reports that a RCCG delegation led by Pastor Peter Egho, on behalf of the RCCG General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, visited President Lonsdale last month and handed over the financial assistance to rebuild the State Office.
“The help has come directly from the national headquarters office of the RCCG at the Redemption Camp at Lagos in Nigeria, West Africa,” Thompson says.
“According to RCCG Minister Crem Mandavah, the idea was not Pastor Adeboye’s to help but it has been revealed by the Holy Spirit.”
“The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has not only assisted the President of the country in rebuilding the State Office but it has also assisted families and churches that are struggling to move on and get their life and activities back to normalcy”, says Mandavah.
In addition to the financial assistance, the RCCG also gave the President a fridge for his home use.
As part of his appreciation for the generosity of the church, President Lonsdale visited with the RCCG last Sunday to fellowship with the members of the RRCG in Port Vila.
In his address to the congregation, President Lonsdale acknowledged the financial assistance he received and commanded “that blessings will be upon RCCG membership to grow further”.
“Our county needs unity. All denominations must unite to ensure our country develops and the people live according to our motto ‘In God We Stand’”, says President Lonsdale.
“This year 2015 is a challenging year for us. Therefore our leaders need prayers to lead this nation forward. However, they can’t move forward because it is us citizens that will pray for them to lead our nation in a great path to development”.
President Lonsdale continued address quoting popular text of Matthew 5:16: Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glory your Father which is in heaven.
Daily Post understands that the RCCG in Vila has become the first church to make a first Tropical Cyclone Pam relief to all its members in Efate and Tanna giving them food, clothes and other housing items.
The help has not only come from the RCCG in Vila but from the church in Nigeria and Sydney, Australia.
Minister Mandavah also reveals that financial support from Nigeria, Australian, RCCG and with assistance still coming from RCCG in Spain will be used to build 4 churches in Efate and Tanna.
The delegation that visited President Lonsdale at the time of handing over the financial assistance are Pastor Peter Egho (Pastor incharge of Lagos Province 21), Pastor Peter Kolmas (Tanna-Teouma lake bush), Pastor Crem Mandavah (Aniwa-RCCG Vanuatu Headquarter, Port Vila), Pastor Peter Adewumi (Nigeria-RCCG Vanuatu Headquarter, Vila), Pastor Joshua Onomeriri (Nigeria-RCCG Vanuatu Headquarter, Vila) and Brother Olufemi (Nigera-Lagos Province 21 Architect &Engineer).
