Minister Pikioune visits Air Van Sales and Marketing sections

Sales and Marketing was the first department of Air Vanuatu after Administration and Human Resources the Minister of Finance and Economic Management (MFEM), Gaetan Pikioune, visited during his recent tour of the offices of the national airline.

The minister was taken on the guided tour of sales and marketing by the General Manager of the Department, Floyd Smith.

Pikioune, one of three shareholders of the State-Owned Enterprise, met staff of the three sections under the department – sales and reservations, passenger systems and revenue management, and learned about their work.

In sales and reservations, Section Manager Sindy Metsan heads of team of 17 staff members in Port Vila, three in Santo, two in Tanna and 24 outer island agents who deal with booking and ticketing.

Ms. Metsan with the help of General Manager Smith explained to the Minister how the airline handles sales and reservations work from around the world using the call center manned by teams of girls who take calls from all over Vanuatu and around the world for bookings and ticketing.

Before visiting the sales and reservation section, the Minister was shown to the Passenger Systems, which is staffed by one lady, Adlyn Rambai, and the Revenue Management section headed by Manager Greg Wilson who has staff of five.

Wilson explained that his department’s responsibility was to ensure the operations of Air Vanuatu function in line with the approved budget of the airline.

On the tour, the second by a government minister to Air Vanuatu offices and the first in over 11 years, MFEM Pikioune, also visited the Engineering and Flight Operations located departments at Bauerfield Airport and Catering based at the Parliament Restaurant building.

The aim of the visit was for the Minister to see and understanding the operations of Air Vanuatu.
