Air Vanuatu says they

carried out an investigation following an inquiry from the Daily Post regarding a claim by passenger George Fatapa and his alleged missing luggage.

Last Monday, Fatapa informed the Daily Post that he had lost items valued at around Vt60,000 from a luggage left overnight in the care of Air Vanuatu Bauerfield Airport domestic office and ground handling staff the previous Friday after the flight to Tanna he was booked on was cancelled due to bad weather.

The airline says they have investigated this claim, “including checking security camera footage at the airport which has shown no staff member entering the area of the stored luggage, or any other movement around the luggage. The storage area is well lit and secure.”

It says the passenger did not contact Air Vanuatu regarding his claim for missing luggage rather it seems he went straight to the media.
