Health staff warned against harassment

Acting DG Wabaiat

The Acting Director General (DG) of the Ministry of Health (MoH), Johnson Wabaiat, has warned health staff not to harass patients at the workplace.

Acting DG Wabaiat made the statement to health workers while visiting several health facilities on Santo recently.

His statement came about following an incident which came out publicly in the media early this year, damaging the reputation of the Vila Central Hospital.

The issue involved a nurse at the Vila Central Hospital Eye Clinic who was accused of sexual misconduct against a patient.

The Daily Post understands that the Public Service Commission (PSC) have received a report about the alleged sexual harassment.

Acting DG Wabaiat urged the staff of the health facilities to respect their colleagues at work place and even patients, to ensure that there is trust and confidence in the health institutions.
