The Examinations Office of the Ministry of Education and Training announced the names of the successful candidates who will continue secondary studies at Year 9 and Year 13 in both the French and English-language streams at colleges, secondary and junior secondary schools all over Vanuatu in 2015 last week.

The names were read out in a Radio Vanuatu broadcast just before Christmas day and the program was repeated on Radio Vanuatu last Saturday evening.

From the list posted in the website of the Ministry of Education and Training, a total of 2,280 students from last year’s Year 8 levels have been selected to study in Year 9 in 54 English-medium colleges, secondary schools and junior secondary schools throughout country in 2015.This figure is only a portion of the thousands who sat the examination in November 2014 for the opportunity to further their secondary studies.

From the figure, in Malampa Province places have been offered for 406 students in 10 colleges, secondary and junior secondary schools. 441 students were selected for Year 9 studies at 11 colleges, secondary schools and junior secondary schools in Penama. 494 students selected to go to 10 colleges and secondary and junior secondary schools in Sanma. 554 students for 11 colleges, secondary and junior secondary Shefa Province, 307 students to go to 11 colleges and secondary schools in Tafea, and 87 students for two secondary and junior secondary schools in Torba.

From the French-language Year 8 levels, a total of 915 students have been selected to do Year 9 studies at 30 colleges and secondary schools around the provinces of Vanuatu including Lycee Louis Antoine de Bouganville, College de Santo, College de Rensari, and monmartre, to name but a few.

For the Year 13 level or the Vanuatu Senior Secondary Certificate, 568 successful students were selected for Year 13 studies in nine English-language colleges and secondary schools of the country. These are Aore Adventist Academy in Santo, Rensary College in Malekula, St Patrick’s College in Ambae, Ranwadi Church of Christ College in Pentecost, Malapoa College in Port Vila, Central School in Port Vila, Onesua Presbyterian College in north Efate, and Tafea College in Tanna.

400 successful students were selected for senior school placements to do Year 13 studies in six French-language colleges and schools including Monmartre outside of Port Vila and Lycee Louis Antoine de Bougainville in Port Vila.
