Creating recreational parks part of 100-day plan: Regenvanu

Minister of Lands Ralph Regenvanu speaking at the handing over the recreational equipment by Chinese Ambassador Liu Quan to Freshwater 5 garden reserve park.

The establishment of recreational parks is part of the Government's 100-day plan, led by Prime Minister, Charlot Salawi, says the Minister of Lands, Ralph Regenvanu.

He made this comment at the handing over of recreational equipment for Freshwater 5 Garden Reserve Park in Port Vila last week by the Chinese Ambassador, Liu Quan.

He added that now there are 40 parks created and in operation in both Port Vila and Luganville since the government came to power in February 2016.

The Minister said that the Freshwater 5 facility was particularly special because the residents of the area entered into a management agreement for the park with UNELCO and under that agreement the garden reserve park was nicely fenced off. Also a committee was formed to oversee the management and upkeep of the park.

Minister Regenvanu urged the committee to look after the park for the enjoyment of the children of Freshwater 5 as well as for use by the adults.
