Submission of bids has finally started for the much anticipated Port Vila Urban Development Project. The bids opened Friday, June 12, 2015 and will close on July 10, 2015.
The pre-bid meeting will be held on June 24 and opening of bids will take place the same day, half an hour after the deadline for submission of bids at 2.pm, at the Conference Room of the Vanuatu Project Management Unit (VPMU).
Prospective bidders are being asked to collect hard and soft copies of the Bidding Documents at the VPMU office in Port Vila upon payment of a nonrefundable Vt2,000.
An invitation for bids says the Republic of Vanuatu has received financing from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of the Port Vila Urban Development Project. Part of this financing will be used for payments under the contract Wb01-15 for construction of a Septage Treatment Facility for Port Vila. This contract will be jointly financed by the Government of Australia.
“The eligibility rules and procedures of the ADB will govern the bidding process and bidding is open to Bidders from eligible source countries of the ADB,” the invitation bid notice states.
The Ministry of Finance and Economic Management (MFEM) is the Executing Agency and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities (MIPU) is the Implementing Agency.
The scope of the works to be delivered by the successful bidder under the contract includes: construction of new sludge lagoons No. 1 and No. 2 including compacted bunds, access points and slipways; construction of percolation pond and compacted coral base road; and construction of associated pipework and fence for the works.
“Interested bidders must demonstrate their ability to undertake the abovementioned works and meet the criteria as set out in the bidding documents,” the invitation to bid stresses.
