Vanuatu is participating in the 71 World Health Assembly held in Geneva, Switzerland this week, represented by the Minister of Health, Norris Jack Kalmet.
Vanuatu’s delegation includes Jerome Ludvaun, Health Parliament Secretary; Jimmy Luna Tasong, First Political Advisor; and Director General, George Taleo.
Every year the World Health Organization (WHO) member states come together to agree to resolutions regarding developments of the health of their people and the challenges affecting resolutions that the Assembly had discussed in previous meetings.
The theme for the 71 World Health Assembly is – “Health for all, commit to universal health coverage”
The Assembly will review government commitments to reduce the burden of Public Health problems and pass resolutions which will enable global effort to achieve universal health coverage within state party agreements and regional health strategic frameworks.
The Minister of Health as head of delegation is also attending the Commonwealth Ministers of Health meeting and participate in the Walk the Talk event to mark WHO’s 70th Anniversary.
Vanuatu became an active member of the World Health Organization in 1984.
