Vanuatu are taking part in the Pacific Islands Trade & Invest (PT&I) and the Secretariat of the Pacific Community’s (SPC) Fine Food Australia, now being held from September 15-18, 2014, at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre.

One of these Vanuatu companies deals in honey products.

Fine Food 2014 started Monday with 11 Pacific Island Exporters showcasing their products from around the region.

The event is an initiative of Pacific Islands Trade and Invest, (PT&I) Sydney office in conjunction with SPC – IACT (Increasing Agricultural Commodity Trade) program.

A joint statement from PT&I and SPC says that for the fourth year running, a Pacific Islands branded stand has 11 companies exhibiting in order to meet potential Australian and international buyers under the one roof during the four day trade show.

“With over 24,000 visitors and 1000 exhibitors attending it is an ideal forum for Pacific Island premium niche products at such a high profile show and to check out the global competition,” the statement says.

For many participants this is one of the biggest platforms on which to showcase their wares. Products being exhibited illustrate the diversity of premium food and beverage coming out of the region. From sea grapes, bottled water and chocolate sourced from Fiji, honey from Vanuatu to coffee from Papua New Guinea all in premium packaging to attract the discerning buyer.

In total there is 4 companies from Fiji, 3 from Vanuatu, and 1 each from Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Niue and one coconut oil company that sources from across the Pacific.

“It is the fourth year that we have attended Fine Food, and momentum and focus builds every year. We are looking forward to exhibiting some premium niche products from the Pacific this week to local and international buyers as well as telling them the story behind each of these products,” commented Jeremy Grennell, Export Services Manager for PT&I.
