Toa Corporation, the Japanese company that has won the bid for the main contractor of the Port Vila Lapetasi International Multipurpose Wharf Development Project has issued notices informing the public about restrictions to two areas of the construction site at the Star Wharf – the Marine and Land Construction Zones.
The notices signed by Shinji Hatazawa of Toa Corporation, the Project Manager Port Vila Lapetasi International Multipurpose Wharf Development Project (PVLIMWDP), informs everyone that construction of the project started on October 15, 2015 and is expected to be complete by October 13, 2017.
“In order to avoid accidents between construction equipment/vehicles/trucks and other public land transportation users, including pedestrians, we have installed several number of signage and sign board to indicate the land construction zone,” Shinji Hatazawa stated.
The land construction zone runs for about a hundred meters on the side of the road towards the Star Wharf where construction work on the PVLIMWDP is in progress.
“In order to avoid accidents between construction vessels and other marine users, we have installed 4 marker buoys to indicate the marine construction zone,” Hatazawa explained.
The two zones are indicated on the accompanying photograph by dotted lines on the sea and land showing the construction area.
The four marker buoys in the sea were laid for Toa Corporation by Fletcher Construction of New Zealand which has subcontractor duties for the project.
Members of the public road and marine users are warned to keep off the construction zones in order to avoid accidents in the construction site of the Port Vila Lapetasi International Multipurpose Wharf Development Project.
