AFP donates vehicle to Vanuatu Police Force

The Australian Federal

Police (AFP) has handed over a new vehicle to the Commissioner of Police, Albert Nalpini, through its international assistance in the region.

Vanuatu Police Force Transnational Crime Unit (TCU) is the fortunate recipient of the vehicle.

The relations between TCU and AFP is purely based on transnational crime issues that both agencies have priorities to combat to make the Pacific a safe place for all.

In 2002, the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police have seen a need to set up TCUs in the region given the rise on Transnational Crime issues happening in its borders.

A meeting was held in Brisbane, Australia and most of the countries endorsed the idea and TCU were set up first in the bigger countries and now extended to the smaller Pacific nations. That meeting also agreed that AFP will provide logistical support to the TCU to help run their activities.

Commissioner Nalpini thanked the Australian government for his continuous support to the VPF and also ask the TCU officers to use the truck in work related matters and to look after the assets that are being funded by AFP.
