Drivers, pedestrians and residents of the area in Port Vila are being advised that beginning today, Wednesday, August 23, 2017, for the next two weeks there will be road and drainage works taking place along sections of the Lini Highway (formerly Edmond Collardeau Avenue), during both day and night.
Road closures will be installed at sections of the Lini Highway between (i) the Collardeau French School intersection in the North end; and (ii) the Tropical/Dumbea Roundabout in the South end, and will be regulated.
A statement from George Tambe, Community Liaison Office of the contractors, RMS Vanuatu says partial road closures during the day whereby there will be a “stop-go” contraflow of traffic. Traffic flow will be monitored to minimize delays during peak periods, for example, School drop-off and pick-up.
And there will be total road closures for night works whereby traffic will be directed through the detour as shown along Captain Cook Avenue, Wales Street and Cornwall Street as marked on the Traffic Guidance Scheme (TGS).
Night traffic will be directed through Rue Cornwall and Rue de Wales with two-way traffic along the northern section of Captain Cook Avenue and vice-versa as work on the Port Vila Urban Development Project (PVUDP) continues.
