The Government intends to quarry the three limestone hills in Freshwota, Port Vila to earn revenue to pay off National Housing Corporation (NHC) debts which exceeds Vt62 million (excluding VAT debts).

This was revealed in a public meeting at the Mautoa park in Freshwota 3, yesterday afternoon which saw the announcement of plans for the transition of the NHC approved last month by the Council of Ministers with presentations from the Minister of Lands Ralph Regenvanu and the NHC Board, the launch of the NHC Audited Financial Statement for 2012 — the first audit of the NHC for 14 years , followed by the signing of transfer of Freshwota Field lease from the NHC to the Government and finally the announcement of the takeover of management of all activities at Mautoa Park by the NHC on 1 February 2015, and outlining of plans for development and management of the area
