Tuesday October 26, 2021 saw a record number of people getting their COVID-19 jabs — 967 doses of AstraZeneca doses were administered. At least 625 of these are first dose vaccination recipients.

During the first of the vaccine rollout to the public in July, over 1000 people received their first dose of the vaccine.

SHEFA Vaccination Rollout Coordinator, Kalwat Poilapa, said since the launching of the vaccine 600-800 people were getting vaccinated in a day. That number has steadily decreased.

According to Mr. Poilapa, the number of people getting their first dosage of the vaccine had dropped greatly within the last 2 and a half months and increased only with Tuesday’s numbers.

“The number has increased greatly,” he said. “This is the largest number of vaccinations we have given since we moved to George Pompidou.

“After the announcements of the two confirmed COVID-19 cases on Monday, many people have been motivated to take their first dose of the vaccine. 625 people for first dose vaccinations is a lot.”

The public is advised that the AstraZeneca vaccine 1st and second doses are to be administered from Monday-Thursday, only the Sinopharm second dose will be administered every Friday.
