Lulu is Vanuatu's official London 2012 Flag Bearer

Vanuatu Amateur Sports Association and National Olympic Committee in a ceremony Friday 28th June 2012, aat Vasanoc Conference Room unveiled its accredited list of Vanuatu athletes for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
In addressing the athletes and officials present during the ceremony, a proud Vanuatu’s Chef-de-Mission to the London Olympic, Joe Carlo, said, "Such occasion happens to people once in a life-time! It is the biggest responsibility, the biggest honour, and it must be treated with respect.”
Present during the ceremony were the Minister of Youth and Sports Morkin Stephens Iatika, the President of VASANOC Antoine Boudier and Ps Allan Nafuki, together with the athletes.

Following the opening speeches, Mr. James Kalo who is VASANOC’s National Sports Development Officer officially announced members of Vanuatu’s national delegation to the Olympics.
Table Tennis, Athletics including Judo were disciplines to unveil by VASANOC to represent the country at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Table tennis Ace Anolyn Lulu and Yoshua Shing would be accompanied by team manager Emmeline Lulu while Sorina tops an athletic team that is led by team manager Reynolds Alatoa. Judo will be represented by another of Vanuatu’s medal hopeful - Nazario Fiakaifonu to be led by Georges Cumbo as team manager.

The moment everybody was waiting for came with the official announcement by the President of VASANOC Antoine Boudier of Vanuatu’s flag bearer for the Opening Ceremony of the London Game 2012. “It is a pleasure for me to announce today that Ms. Anolyn Lulu is selected as Vanuatu’s flag bearer at the Games!"

In presenting the National Flag to Vasanoc President, the Minister Morkin Stevens Iatika remarked that as Minister responsible for sports, heis delighted that a small country like Vanuatu could participate in the London 2012 Olympic Games, which is undoubtedly the biggest sporting showpiece on the planet. “I encourage you all to give your best as fine ambassadors for Vanuatu as sports could promote tourism and investment opportunities for Vanuatu, " he said.

Daily Sports caught up with a tearful Anolyn Lulu whose dream of participating at London Olympic Games is not only reality, but her selection Friday 28 June 2012 as Vanuatu’s Flag Bearer. “It is the biggest honour to be Vanuatu’s Flag Bearer especially at an Olympic Games which is the biggest showpiece on the planet.

“In being grateful for the recognition by the Government, and Vasanoc, we will do our utmost best to respect the values as ambassadors of Vanuatu,” stated an emotional Lulu.
Team Vanuatu has already left the country on Monday where they will spend over 2 weeks of camp at Manchester before traveling to London later this month for the Olympic Games.

Team Vanuatu that left on Monday is, Reynolds Alatoa (Ath Team Coach), Zhengqing Wu (TT Coach), Flag Bearer Anolyn Lulu (TT), Yoshua Shing (TT), Arnold Sorina (Athletics) and Janice Alatoa(Athletics). The Judo athlete Nazario Fiakaifonu and his coach Ted Drew will meet up with them in Manchester on the 5th July.
