Late Lini always determined to succeed: Kilman

“There is something stronger than determination in someone who always wants to succeed and this was the case with the late Father Walter H. Lini,” the Vanuatu Prime Minister Santo Kilman said of the leadership in a nation during the Lini Memorial Day.

While reminding the people of Vanuatu to look back at the leadership quality that one of the founding fathers of Vanuatu had in him, the current Prime Minister said such leaders are not just appointed by people but by God.

He said God appointed the late Father Lini at the time when the New Hebrides needed him to be at the forefront with other leaders to see this nation to independence and to where this country is today, except he (Late father Walter Lini is no longer here today) PM Kilman told the gathering at the Lini Memorial Service at the Anglican Church at Tagabe Port Vila.

The Vanuatu Prime Minister also urged the young people to take time and spent time to reflect on and to study the life and the leadership qualities of the man who chose the path of self-sacrifice and personal commitment in what he believed in and that was to have a positive political influence over the majority population of the then New Hebrides to believe that independence must be achieved and was achieved.

Prime Minister Kilman said this country must continue to raise leaders that will follow closely in the philosophy and the ideologies of the late Father Walter Lini and must not lose sight of this as some of the most important and practical principles of guiding this nation into the future.
