Chief Worwor appeals to Port Vila to remain calm

The Chairman of the Port Vila Town Council of Chiefs, Chief Isaac Worwor, has appealed to the population of Port Vila to remain calm while relevant authorities in connection to the allegations made towards the Management of the Vanuatu National Provident Fund work on the most sensible approach to deal with the situation.

He has voiced his grave concern regarding sensitive and frustrating allegations raised through the various media outlets, relating to the way the new VNPF General Manager, Anniva Tarilongi, has been managing the important institution which belong to members of VNPF.
Whether the allegations are well founded or otherwise, Chief Worwor says it is not PVTCOCs intention to take sides on the now becoming highly talked about matter around town, villages, nakamals and homes.

But as the Port Vila Township falls within the PVTCOCs’ jurisdiction he calls on the VNPF Chairman, the Minister responsible for VNPF and Prime Minister’s Office to act quickly to appropriately address the serious allegations laid against the VNPF Management.
Chief Worwor said VNPF has come a long way since the 1998 tragedy and he does not want to see this institution slide back to the period 14 years ago.

The PVTCOCs Chairman’s expression of concern comes from the fact that as representatives at chiefly level, of all citizens living and working within the Port Vila Town Boundary, he would like to see that the security, wellbeing, unity and harmonious living of the population is maintained at all times.

Chief Worwor said, “I have witnessed, first hand, what happened 14 years ago and I am not ready to witness another one, especially after so much fantastic effort has been put in place to improve the administration of the institution.”

Chief Worwor concludes by calling on members of PVTCOCs, Vaturisu Council of Chiefs, Community and Area Council Chiefs and Leaders to monitor the situation very closely and be prepared to provide assistance where appropriate to assist the authorities in maintaining the citizens’ security, peace and harmony within Port Vila.
