Alguet says Office open
The Chairman of the National Council of Chiefs, Chief Gratien Alguet has assured the general public that the Chiefs’ Office is open at all times five days a week from Monday to Friday.
Chief Alguet made the assurance to assure the public of Port Vila and the country at large that despite the suspension of the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Selwyn Garu, the Secretariat is manned by the Secretary as well as the Administrative Officer Dickinson Tevi.
According to sources not far from the Council, Chief Garu was suspended due to an alleged lack of financial report on how the constitutional body’s budget was spent.
But the sources said it is not as if this was the first time that financial reports were not presented because no report was allegedly presented since the National Council of Chiefs was born approximately 31 years ago.
