10-year-old student spends 2 hours in bus

A 10-year-old student was in a bus travelling around Port Vila for over two hours when she stopped the service bus to get her home.

The 10-year-old girl whose parents did not want her name mentioned related her ordeal to Daily Post yesterday morning.

The girl hailed a service bus after school at 3.30 pm yesterday and gave her destination to the driver who agreed to take her there.

However, the girl arrived home at nearly 6pm. Her parents were worried about her whereabouts and were about to call the police as she arrived home.

“We went to different suburbs of Port Vila and every time I remind the driver where I was going, he told me he will take me there. But as new passengers board the bus, we would drive away from my destination and onto other suburbs.

“As the new passengers were drop off and new passengers board the bus, the driver continued onto their destination and ignored to drop me off first as we passed close to my home,” the young student told her parents almost in tears.

Asked if she knew recognises the driver or recorded the Bus’s number plate, she said no as all she wanted was to be back home.

The 10-year-old student told her parents that this is the first time this has happened to her and other Bus Drivers have always respected the students.

The parents confirmed to DailyPost that their 10 year old daughter always arrives home almost half an hour after school and this is the longest time it has taken her to return home from school.
