New Yorkers come to worship

Worshipper who packed the Potoroki Church at Nambatu felt really blessed to have ten visitors from all the way in New York City America join them for worship last Saturday.

They stepped ashore from the ship and asked for direction to the closest church.

An elder was welcoming local visitors that joined the service when suddenly Elder Johnny Arnhambat led the visitors in to take their seat.
The elder said, “Welcome, sorry where are you from?”
“New York”, came the quick reply from one of them.

URA Opens Consultation on Regulatory Reporting Requirements Issues Paper

The Utilities Regulatory Authority (URA) is pleased to announce the publication of its Regulatory Reporting Requirements Issues Paper and requests stakeholders to provide feedback by 30 April 2012.

The paper seeks comments on issues raised by the Authority in particular: the general principles for regulatory reporting; the application of the rules and definition of regulatory reporting and the nature and form of information to be provided to the Authority for the purpose of regulatory reporting.

World Bank gets high marks from Australian multilateral assessment

The World Bank welcomes the findings of the Australian Multilateral Assessment launched on March 30. The World Bank Group is ranked as a leading organization by criteria analysing results, relevance and the organisational behavior of 42 multilateral development organisations reviewed in the report.

State land sold under value and without tender

A parcel of State owned land near the Ministry of Public Works (MIPU) at Pompidou and diagonally opposite the President’s office has been sold to a private company. The land was reportedly earmarked some years ago as a potential site for a building to house Civil Aviation and PASO offices.

Epi women make it big on market trip

Twenty-three women from Epi have made a very successful visit to Port Vila during which they made around half a million vatu in product sales.
The members of Navara Epi Market Association arrived in on March 14 with about a ton-and-a-half of food and other market products. Six days later the sale was completed.

Vehicles to boost Port Vila garbage collection

The Port Vila Municipality (PVM) has added two brand new vehicles to its ever maintenance demanding old fleet of dump trucks which will certainly pump new blood into PVM’s garbage collection service.

On hand to receive the truck keys, PVM Clerk, Johnny Botleng described the occasion as “history for Port Vila Municipality as it will boost its service delivery in term of garbage collection taxpayers and residences”.

He said the achievement is a result of the team effort of the Port Vila Municipality staff whom he congratulates for their cooperation.

AVL Dedicates New Head Office and Conference Room

Chief Executive Officer of Airports Vanuatu Limited (AVL) Peter Bong and his team of General Managers and Line Managers witnessed the dedication of the AVL Head Office and Conference Room on March 21, 2012.

The AVL Head Office, which is located on the top floor of the Aviation Security (AVSEC) Office (formerly known as the Air Club Building) will house the CEO, his Executive Assistant and the newly formed Corporate Services, under the recently appointed General Manager.

As we are approaching this year election, Vanuatu is watching how the Political parties are moving towards the constituencies by doing everything that can make the Politic win the citizens hearts of each respected voters.

Looks like everybody seems to know more about politic these days especially in Port Vila town due to interesting issues printed in the news paper and TV that reminds the Political structure of today is not the same as back in 1980 since independence.

Three of the four final round matches were staged today and brought some interesting results, the most notable of which was Waitakere’s 4-0 win over New Caledonian visitors Mont-Dore.
