Vanuatu and China marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic ties with a lavish dinner and speeches on March 26.
Speaking at a function at the Warwick Le Lagon Hotel in Port Vila hosted by the Chinese Embassy to mark the occasion, the Vanuatu Prime Minister Meltek Sato Kilman Livtunvanu and the Chinese Ambassador to Vanuatu Cheng Shuping both referred to the other’s country as a true friend.

Over the past four decades, obesity has been on the rise. Today, 34% of adult American women are characterized as obese. But exactly what is obesity and what are some of its causes? And with so many American women battling obesity it's important to know, what the effects of obesity are on obese women and their health ' including their reproductive health. Does being obese affect a woman's fertility or pose any risks to her pregnancy?

One of the first regular female voices on the airwaves in Vanuatu has died. Caroline Escales (nee Joe) lost her battle to diabetes last Friday at the Central Hospital in Port Vila. She was laid to rest at the Port Vila cemetery Saturday morning after a funeral service at the Paton Memorial Church attended by family members, close friends and colleagues from her work place. She is survived by her husband Robert, and their two daughters Lara and Natallie.

On 21st February 2011 a crew member of a cruise boat was penalised by Customs Officials for not declaring “goods to be landed” to Customs. Considering the nature of the offence, the offender was only served an administrative penalty this time, however it is worth noting that moving or interfering with imported goods under Customs control is an offence according to section 36 of the Customs Act [CAP.257] and carries a fine of Vt500,000 and/or imprisonment for not more than 6 months.
