Lawyers, scientists suspect two-day kava for kava ban

The Kava Act bans two-day kava export and preliminary results in the scientific part of a scientific study due to the kava ban in Europe indicate that there is a scientific difference in the safety and quality of kava depending on whether it is noble kava or two-day kava.

The International Kava Conference now on at Warwick Le Lagon Resort & Spa has pointed an accusing finger at the Vanuatu two-day kava as the most potential culprit which prompted Germany and the European Union to ban kava export from the Pacific for the last ten years.

The newly appointed Interim Provincial Games Council (IPGC) has reported it has held meetings to discuss matters on TORBA Games issues.  Discussions in their first meeting last month included an overall update report received from host’s Chairman of the TORBA Games Organizing Committee, Clifton Lonsdale. Sanma disability desk achieves milestone

Demonstration brewing over Sanma Provincial Council suspension

Internal Affairs Minister, George Wells has condemned the alleged planning of public assemblies and public demonstrations in and around Santo Town over the suspension of Sanma Provincial Government Council.

In a press statement to the media which also advices the Office of the Police Commissioner on the matter, Minister Wells said “I strongly condemn the way the organisers poorly handled the issue, of which may result in mass arrest of innocent indigenous citizens”.

Australian High Commission and Westpac International Women’s Day Reception a big success

Women and men from communities and countries across the world came together in Port Vila on Thursday 8 March to celebrate International Women’s Day at a function co-hosted by the Australian High Commission and Westpac Bank.

Over 100 people attended the event at the Vanuatu Institute of Technology to recognise some of the outstanding achievements of women and girls in Vanuatu, and the important role that all women and girls play in our society.

More students to study in Philippines

Forty new students have been accepted to study in the Philippines in 2012. This is a new intake to begin their academic studies in the Philippines.

Already there are 115 students undergoing various academic studies in the Philippines and a further 40 new intake boost the total number of Vanuatu students studying in the Philippians to 155.

Kalnpel resigns, focuses on Presidential system

Outspoken General Manager of the Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Louis Kalnpel Industry yesterday tendered his resignation as head of the institution.

Kalnpel, a staunch advocator of many national controversial issues including the World Trade Organisation and the much debated Presidential system told Daily Post the reason behind his decision is simply because he wants to focus solely on the Presidential System.
