The provincial councils of Sanma, Penama, Malampa and Torba have been suspended. The provincial councils are now effectively suspended as of 4.45pm yesterday, after the Minister for Internal Affairs, Georges Wells, completed signing of the instruments for their suspension.

“With the suspension of the four councils, the responsibilities for the running of the provinces have been given to four commissioners,” Mr Wells said.
Four senior officers within the Ministry of Internal Affairs have been allocated the commissioner roles of the four provinces.

This year is steaming ahead.  January proved to be a bit of a quiet month down at the shed. With many families away on school holidays and then the preparations for back to school. The quiet time gave Vanuatu Rowing Association  (VRA) the opportunity to have a clean up around the shed and do some much needed repairs.  

Vanuatu Netball Association (VNA) has began its outreach program to schools in Shefa Province again this year.

On the 27th of February 2012, the first school visited was Olwie Primary School at Blacksand Area.

There were 29 students that attended Netball training, mostly only classes five (5) and six (6).

VNA would like to thank Olwie, Central School and Seaside Community School principal for allowing VNA developing netball in their schools.

This outreach program is to prepare the primary schools for the SEPSA games in the month of July.

The atmosphere was tense; men had travelled from miles around the globe to meet for this one very very long weekend.

The location was Ocean King restaurant in the middle of town, Luganville. The occasion was the registration for the inaugural Express Diesel Fishing competition and family day. Many people had flown in from around the globe, we even had a couple of local crazies from Vila bring their 6 meter Stabi-Craft from Vila to Santo to compete in the Express Diesel fishing Comp (Arnaud Russett and Marco Traverso).
