Should “swimming pigs” become a topic in Technical and Vocational Education Training in Vanuatu?

Will the famous “Vanuatu Climate Change Swimming Pigs” become a topic in vocational education and training in Vanuatu? What may sound very funny is in fact of great importance: students need to know and understand expected climate changes, the impacts on their environment and sources of income and should be supported to develop skills to deal with the challenges and perhaps also new opportunities ahead of all of us.

Masters of illusion

Dear Editor,

Illusion is "something that deceives the eye or mind." It might be waving your hands in the air and (seemingly) produce a coin from behind the ear of someone. Fishing in itself is the art of illusion. Fish do not normally just bite an empty hook or hang onto your line and let you pull them in. Bait is put on hooks as an illusion to entice fish to bite. Once they bite the fisherman sets the hook and winds in the fish. Once the fish realize there is a hook (as it is hooked in their mouth) they will do their best to get off the line. Some success to live another day.
