I was surprised and saddened to read the letter last week from the “Vanuaaku Party Head Office” responding to my mother's letter on this issue. Firstly, my mother wrote her letter as a private citizen so why did the VP refer to her as the "Matriarch of the Graon mo Jastis Pati" when she made no reference at all to the party in her letter and she herself has nothing to do with the Party?

Free West Papua to speak out on Lini Day

Vanuatu set to attract Korean tourists and investors

Vanuatu is gearing up to maximize its participation at the upcoming Mini World Expo in Yeosu city in South Korea with an approved budget of Vt30 Million.
Following a success story of Vanuatu’s participation at the World Expo in Shanghai in 2010, the country is preparing to showcase itself once more at the Mini Expo to be staged in Yeosu city from 12th May through to 12th August 2012.
Countries from around the world are also preparing to showcase their products at the Mini Expo in Yeosu which is a lead up to the next World Expo that will be held in the city of Milan in Italy in 2014.

17-year-old girl missing

A 17-year-old girl has gone missing since Thursday last week in Port Vila.

The parents of 17-year-old Daisy John from Saama village in North Efate are very concerned about their daughter who went missing in Port Vila since Thursday last week.

The 17-year-old was staying with her aunty in No. 3 in Port Vila. Last Thursday she told her aunty she was going to visit relatives at Anabouru.
By evening of Thursday, her aunty at No. 3 was worried because she still has not returned home.

Jasmine clean up

Friday dawn brought a smile to more than one face because the sun showed its face after cyclone Jasmine’s dull weather and gusty winds.

While the National Disaster Management Office’s aerial survey in the southern islands on Thursday revealed that Aneitym is one of the islands which felt the wrath of cyclone Jasmine and will experience hardships when it comes to food in the coming weeks, Port Vila did not really feel the force of the cyclone.

CETC/VRDTCA joint Workshop on community development

A ‘Learner Support’ Workshop was held recently at the Melanesian Hotel in Port Vila from 23 – 27 January to progress the planning and implementation of the Certificate in Community Development pilot distance learning programme in Vanuatu.

The Certificate Course in Community Development and Management (CDM) with its two components on Integrated Agriculture (IA) and Health and Nutrition (HN) has been offered as a fulltime course with face to face students at the Community Development and Training Centre (CETC) in Fiji for many years.

How Ambaean is named Tasso

When Green’s National Leader and Minister of Finance Moana Carcasses went to Ambae and learned that Jean Baptist Tasso was to be his Regional Coordinator, he made it clear that under his party’s policy he cannot appoint someone from either Epi or Paama or Ambrym to become his political party coordinator in North Ambae.

Daily Post met the man called Tasso last week and heard how he was given his name.

Tau says Eratap Village behind UMP Congress

UMP Shefa Provincial Councillor and proposed Efate candidate, Thomas Tau has assured party leaders and supporters throughout the country those preparations for the 24th Union of Moderate Parties National Congress to be hosted in his Eratap Village from February 20 – 22 are just about complete and UMP leaders from Efate are welcoming the participants from Maewo for the congress today.

He gave his assurance on the ground at Eratap yesterday above all the noise of seeming activities going on which seemed to imply that preparations were in full swing.
