PC should discipline officer involved in failed prosecution case

Dear Editor,
Allow me to comment on the front page article of your paper issue no. 3451 of Wednesday 18th January on the non attendance by the Public Prosecution to attend court resulting in the concerned Minister being freed from all charges laid against him.

The officer concerned should and be considered by the Public Services Commission to be disciplined for failing to attend to duties that serves to uphold core values and principles that Vanuatu affirms. His/her ignorance does not only set someone free, but set precedence to many why they should keep the law at all!

Making sense of a Situation

Dear Editor,
How do we define and rate loyalty in the situation below?

May be you can analyze the situation and make some sense out of it.

Minister A withdrew from the government for no reason. But this would be strange
Minister B was terminated for disloyalty to the government, maybe for voting against WTO.

Minister A (who also voted against WTO) is then reappointed to replace Minister B.

Who is more loyal or disloyal not only to the Prime Minister and government but also to his party and voters and why?

Are ministers above the law, or is the Public Prosecution Office plainly incompetent?

Dear Editor,
I have tried all theories and logarithmic formulas to try to understand how lawyers of the Public Prosecutors Office could miss not one.

Not two.

But three consecutive sittings involving the sensitive Police vs Minister Don Ken assault case.

The result is that the case was thrown out of court, and assaulted policemen are robbed of the justice they deserve for a drunken state minister's shameful assault.

Lawyers of the Public Prosecutor's office know the law, don't they?
