Children’s Day kicks off Banban Independence celebration

As in the past, Banban area Banban area has taken the lead to celebrate this year’s independence anniversary with pride and dignity.

While the community intends to capitalize on the event to remind the mature members of the community about how the country succeeded to gain its political freedom from colonial rule on July 30 of 1980, it also plans to use the week-long event a to bring everyone together to educate the young generation on the development progress that also coincided with the Children’s Day that was celebrated on either Sunday or Monday this week.

Chapuis community celebrate Children’s day

Some children may not be privileged to have their birthdays celebrated annually but when it comes to Children’s Day, they know they will not miss out because every child and every home in the community cannot miss out on Children’s Day.

In the Northern Town, this day was celebrated with pride for children in different communities. At Chapuis, many children celebrated this day with their loved ones and family friends in their various little ways in their own community.

Vt10 000 for use of ‘Aelan kaekae stall’

The former Luganville Municipal Commission (LMC) is charging women groups in five areas of Luganville vt10, 000 a week per group if they wish to join other women currently using the “aelan kaekae” food stall at the Unity Park.

A program produced by the LMC separates women into five areas. Area one consists of women coming from the areas of Chapuis 1, 2 & 3 and Santo east.
Area two is made up of women from the areas of Tiroa Barak, Agent Court, Second Canal, Centre Town, ex-Donald, Gubby area and Lavusvatu.

Upgrading of Malo road soon

Malo Island, particularly Malo Island, particularly the eastern side is expecting to get its road upgraded soon.

A reliable source said that a survey and observation will be carried out in a few weeks’ time through the village leaders before the work begins.

Road construction equipment will be transported to the island next month.

Malo Island contributes to the country’s economy through their agricultural products including copra and cocoa. It also has the potential to develop its cattle industry.

VMF makes effort to repair Saint Theresa classrooms

The Vanuatu Mobile Force The Vanuatu Mobile Force (VMF) has started to repair the Saint Therese classrooms.

The school council and children can rejoice now that the VMF will complete what which the US Navy did not complete four months ago.

The classrooms also still need to be painted.

Reports from the Saint Theresa Deputy Principal, Vital Bong said the VMF was able to start repairing the two classrooms last week.

Bong praised the VMF for what the members are going saying they stepped in when they needed them most.

Poor Services at Lenakel Hospital

Firstly I would like to thank "concern man Tanna" as he called himself for voicing his concern which is mostly true.

I don't no whether he is a Public Servant (because he sounds like one)or a private businessman.

Because if you're a government paid concern man tanna then you will know how much it will cost if the hospital charges you

Young people taught good governance

The Vanuatu Christian Council has organised a workshop on Good Governance for young members of the churches in Port Vila and Efate.

The workshop was held for one week at Taloa village on Nguna Island, North Efate. Twenty Seven young men and women from churches in Port Vila and around Efate participated in the Good Governance workshop.

Stones damage Tanna Court House window

Magistrate Waltersai Ahelmhalahlah has said someone has thrown stones through the window of the Tanna Court House on July 19.

He said the stones broke two louvres leaving the window wide open.

Magistrate Waltersai said,” I found the two stones in the house Wednesday morning 7:30am when I walked in and later discovered the damage to the window.”

The Magistrate has appealed to the church leaders and community leaders of Tafea Province particularly Tanna Island to inform their people that such practices must be discouraged.

Tupuji hosts Independence Anniversary celebrations

Tupuji Football Club, the energetic hosts of the 31st Independence Anniversary Celebrations in the happiest village in the country ignited the start of the festivities with a parade led by the VMF Band followed by the SDA Pathfinders and children of the village into the village sports field for prayers, songs and speeches before the President of Tupuji Football Club, Pastor Philip Malas and two youth representatives cut the giant cake to wish the children a ‘happy children’s day’.
