MI HAREM SE...

o ¬Mi harem se politicians are making themselves look ridiculous talking about fair and balanced reporting. The Ministry of Public Utilities have appointed a new Media spokesman who isn't a journalist lecturing us on media ethics. It would help if he understood how media operates before sending in ridiculous letters claiming that all media is bias towards his honourable minister. He hasn't answered any of the concerns raised from fully documented sources. The government should be employing journalists in position of PR and Media Relations, not politicians on the payroll. Silip!

Re: Kalsakau, Sope and Vanuatu Labor Party

Dear Editor,

Leadership is at the same time a blessing and a curse. Leaders like to have the allegiance and esteem of their followers but such is rarely the case especially when not elected into Parliament.

Inherent in humanity are differences of opinion, and these differences cause some to be for certain leadership and against and jealous of other leadership.
The day Saul is presented as King over Israel, by God's decree, a faction of men grumble against him.

Public servants and politics

Dear Editor,

Those who believe they are recruited into the Public Service to play politics have totally missed the point.

Public servants are professionals recruited on merit to carry out their duties in line with the Public Staff Manual to make sure that the Public Surface machinery functions.

Yes the policies that they are expected to carry out are endorsed by politicians but they are not hired to play politics because they are not hired by political parties like political appointees.

Unelco says green energy is in the wind

From Friday, May 20th to Sunday, May 22nd, 2011, 40% of the electricity consumed by of Port Vila residents was a green energy.

This energy, produced by UNELCO’s wind mill, allowed to avoid emission of 107 tons of C02 in the atmosphere.

In the nights of Friday, May 20th and of Saturday, May 21st, the green energy reached 70% of the electricity production of Port Vila, which represents a savings of 41,000 litres of diesel oil on 3 days.

So the savings of diesel oil are directly taken into account in the calculation of the tariff.
