Air Vanuatu to assist Futuna with free freight for donated goods

Air Vanuatu’s Chief Executive Officer, Joseph Laloyer, has announced the national carrier will operate a charity freight only flight to Futuna early next week to carry much needed supplies to the cyclone ravaged island.

“We were very distressed to read of the plight of the Futuna people, with no ships to carry freight in the last few months,” Mr Laloyer said.

“Our staff suggested a food drive as a way of getting supplies to Futuna quickly.”

Air Vanuatu yesterday launched the charity food drive, donations from which will be flown to Futuna free of charge.

Everyone can remember and appreciate Noel Vari, Kaison Maki, Seimata Chilia, and Toroi Sokomanu during their primes, and that merit goes beyond warrant.

But it is more of a task to identify with pin-point precision the type of footballer and impact a young Kaison or Seimata or any contemporary star would project to be in future.

Emelee says Tuna Fishing wants to work with VFA

The owner of Vanuatu Tuna Fishing Christophe Emelee has assured the Chairman of the National Fishermen’s Association Eric Festa that he wants to work with his Association and they have met to encourage the opportunity but that nothing has come of the meetings so far.

Emelee spoke up to answer to concerns from the Chairman that Tuna Fishing has taken their local fish market away from them. He said the only reason why Port Vila residents go to buy fish from the company is because the prices aof their fish are cheaper than the local fishermen’s prices.
