Spending over 100 million vatu proactively upgrading the fixed line and data communications infrastructure, TVL is thinking ahead of the game and planning for the future.

The replacement cable work that started in March 2008, and will continue on for the next year will completely renovate the core copper network systems in Port Vila and Santo.

All of the network cables in the TVL system are underground to ensure minimum exposure to cyclone damage. This investment in the core infrastructure, will ensure that TVL customers have a more reliable network and reduced incidents come the next rainy season.

The work is being carried out by busy teams such as the one shown above working in the Nambatri area of Port Vila. To date, TVL has completed three areas, Nambatri, Pango and Elluck and is working in Santo which will be completed in January of 2009.

TVL is continuing to look ahead to the future via this investment to ensure their customer needs are met, and the people of Vanuatu benefit from best in class modern telecommunication solutions.  “In the future, this upgrade and remedial work will make TVL more efficient in maintaining the network, making for better and quicker service to our customers’” says Mr. Michel Raikatalau, Line Plant Manager of TVL..

Mr. Murray Neill of Talisker Trading, Australia, who was brought in by Michel has been helping behind the scenes with this rebuild program. Mr. Neill has trained the TVL staff, including the 9 new recruits hired to help complete the plan. He brings world class experience to ensure best installation of the systems, testing of the equipment and quality control of the complete process.
